Frame Shift Comic Convention

Wayfinding

Typography

Design Problem:

  • Branding/design must express specific and
appropriate attributes of a hypothetical event.

  • Establish a clear typography system to be utilized across all deliverables.

  • Explore typography as both an emotionally expressive element and a means of communication.

3rd Year Student Group Project

Project Framework:

Frameshift Comic Convention consists of various events that celebrate the stages of comic enjoyment and creation goes through. Because of this our event had to consider:

  • Booths for shopping 100s of vendors,

  • An artist alley, demonstrations, artist panels, and meetups.

  • A 500-seat theatre for live interviews, and smaller meeting

rooms for panels and film screenings.

  • Live performances, and outdoor space.

  • Paid autograph and photo opportunities.

  • A kids-only zone

Wordmark Treatment:

My Decisions [outside my partner]:

The visual identity and word mark was made to build like the frames of a comic so it can exhibit how each “cell” or various letter forms could shift, change, and be built upon. These cells represent not only each individual guest in their uniqueness but reflect how they fit into the community to create the whole word mark.
