4th Year Student Work

Project Framework:

iCan for Kids is a non-for-profit fighting the food insecurity crisis in Alberta. This crisis has never been a hunger or scarcity problem, but a deeply rooted insufficient income problem. These deep misconceptions about cause, and effect may be held by their significant donors, who largely keep the iCan mission going.

_The unique mission I had as a student was to highlight iCan's unique model while illustrating the power premium donors hold in the form of a case for support.

My Decisions:

_With corporate donations making upwards of 52% of all donations, I sought to make processing mass financial information easier and a more emotional experience.

_The title was intended to be a bit arresting and disarming to the user. It should peak curiosity and create the question, “What about food insecurity exactly do we need to audit?”

_ This case for support became unique because it lays out information and analyzes it similarly to how an audit would. It's authoritative, clear, and structured. In this case, it's a narrative structure.

The project quickly went beyond a piece of academic design excellence, but something much bigger than me.
It became a way to help someone who helps people.
